Friday Night Fun Rows

Friday Night Fun Rows!!

With the return of rowing through actual water, we’re looking forward to a new series of intramural Friday Night Fun Rows.  Open to Youth and Adult rowers, we’ll be meeting at the boathouse on the Friday evenings below for some friendly competition and low key post-row festivities.

“Race” courses will depend upon the tides, but will include the Head of the Gulf, the Nautical Mile Course, and Minot’s Light, among others.

We’ll definitely be rowing the Mainville Fours, and we’re considering ways to work the doubles into the events as well.

Our goal is to give everyone who wants to row the opportunity to do so, and format will depend upon interest and participation – rowers can sign up individually and be slotted into a crew on race day, or established crews can sign on to snag a boat.  If interest is high, we expect to have the option of running heats.  To make it easier to plan, for organizers and participants alike, please sign up for all dates as soon as possible.

The following are the Friday evenings with the most favorable tides for some spirited sprinting:

Date High Tide
June 18 6:18 PM
July 16 4:57 PM
July 30 5:06 PM
August 13 3:40 PM
August 27 3:36 PM

We’ll have more detail closer to race day, but rowers should generally plan to gather at the boat house 30 minutes before each row.

There is no charge for participation, but donations to offset the cost of food and cox’n compensation will be gratefully accepted.
